The beginning of 2021 has not exactly begun as expected but nonetheless this can be a timely opportunity to get things straight, ready for when life returns to normal. Now is a good time to do some business house-keeping and check all your back office policies, procedures and contracts are all in place.
Do you have all the required paperwork for any staff you have placed on furlough? Do your staff all have current and accurate contracts? Do you have policies and procedures in place for staff to safely return to the workplace? It is worth spending time now ensuring your back office documentation is in order so you have it available if anyone asks; be they a member of staff or a regulatory body.
Once you’ve spent the time ensuring all your contracts, policies and procedures are up to date make sure you let everyone know. A review of HR and Health and Safety documentation should not just be a desk-based activity and can only become reality if you communicate well with all your staff. It is essential they know and understand the implications of any changes you may have made so they can abide by the policies and procedures. Better to be proactive and transparent now than get caught out later on!
